Which camera to choose. I've been choosing a camera for a long time. Finally, I settled on this particular model. First of all, I didn't want to bother with a SLR camera. I'm not such a fan of photography to drag this cobblestone, change lenses, get bogged down in manual settings and then store heavy photos that take up a lot of space.

But at the same time, the quality of ordinary soap dishes has long ceased to suit me. I wanted an easy-to-use, more compact camera than DSLRs, with good optics and excellent photo quality. Ideally, of course, I would like the camera to do everything for you, but it was not possible to implement it 100%.

In fact, this is the only camera I've been able to find that would be a cross between mills and professional SLR cameras. I do not know the second such hybrid. This is a real semi-professional digital camera that allows you to take pictures of very high quality when fully studying it.

Its main advantage is its fifty-fold superzum. It's hard to believe, but with its help it is possible to take very good quality photos even at a distance of 5 km from you, i.e. what you can't see with the naked eye at all. It is difficult to describe it, you need to try it yourself and be surprised. This is a real spy thing. One look into it and you won't need any telescope. Here you immediately have the opportunity to take a picture of the sky, the stars, the Moon, and the Milky Way. And also to keep an eye on my wife, and look through the window to the neighbors, and see who and what is doing on a yacht sailing in the distance. The possibilities are endless.

Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised by the ergonomics. The device itself is compact, moderately large, moderately small, comfortable and not heavy. You can take pictures for half an hour, adjust it, turn it even at arm's length. The arms will not hang down. Convenient location of all buttons. The menu is simple, intuitive. it is convenient to operate it even with one hand, if you have already learned it at least a little. In general, it is quite realistic, without studying any instructions, just take the device and start taking pictures. All modes and functions are simple and clear, despite the fact that there are many of them. If this is not your first camera, then even a child will figure it out without guidance, because I have a lot of hints and explanations everywhere. For example, you choose a certain mode, and you immediately get a hint why this mode is needed and for what.The instruction, which, by the way, is not printed out by a book, but is on the included CD (which I find very inconvenient), is needed mainly to work with the attached software. I.e. only if you are going to conjure with the captured images, change them, work on quality, make panoramas, collages, etc. In order to choose the shooting mode in natural or artificial light, to choose shooting against a background of snow, turn on the flash or change the sensitivity or resolution, it is absolutely not necessary to go into the instructions.

The device works very fast. after you have pressed the start button, you can take photos in two seconds. It does not hang, does not slow down, does not irritate. It has fast focus, fast mode change, quick setup. Fast preservation of frames, you can shoot almost without stopping, without pauses. At the maximum zoom, of course, the focus floats and shakes a lot, the clarity drops, but still, the quality of the photos is very decent.

There are a lot of manual settings. At the beginning I thought that studying them was very boring and not interesting. However, it had to be done. The fact is that in auto mode, the quality of the photos disappointed me greatly. I thought that since the device is expensive, and the optics are of high quality, then without exception, all photos without much strain will be, if not excellent, then very decent. But this is not the case. Canon Powershot SX50HS perfectly shoots on the machine only in good light, especially on the street. Indoors, and especially in dim light, there are a lot of ripples, indistinctness and blurriness in the pictures. Therefore, I had to study manual modes. And it turned out that it was not boring, but on the contrary. It's very exciting and not difficult. They are quickly remembered, and you begin to understand the camera very quickly. The quality of the photo is improved at times. You just need to deal with such complex, at first glance, concepts as ISO, resolution, focal length, etc.

There are a lot of functions in the camera that greatly facilitate its use. Quickly, in just an hour and a half, the battery is charged, which is enough for about 300-500 photos and a half-hour video. A large rotary display that can rotate the picture depending on the camera position. There is an electronic level that helps to avoid crooked angles. Adjusting the flash power. There is a mode that makes the camera react to closed eyes, blinking and smiling. In the first cases, the camera takes pictures 1-2 seconds after the manhole is closed. In the second case, it triggers itself when it sees a smile on its face. You just have to keep the person in the frame. The camera is conveniently attached to the computer. No specially installed program is needed for this. Everything works just like a flash drive. And, of course, a wide range of manual settings, which can change the same photo beyond recognition.

You can take photos in JPEG or RAW format, or both at the same time. In JPEG, of course, the quality of the photos will be normal, average. RAW is a completely different matter. This is a three-dimensional high-quality image that has undergone minimal compression, which can be changed in any way in the programs attached to the camera. The difference between JPEG and RAW is so obvious that you immediately realize that you will never shoot in JPEG again. It's a pity that the irecommend website does not support the RAW format, otherwise I would definitely demonstrate the difference with an example.

Of the minuses, I can note the imperfect quality of video and sound, the lack of USB charging, the poorly functioning recognition function of a familiar face, the flash opens only manually, the tripod blocks access to the memory card and battery compartment. It is impossible to buy a native battery, only Chinese analogues are on sale. In addition to the camera, you will have to buy a spare battery, memory cards, a carrying bag, a protective film on the screen. All together, it will come out at least another half of the cost of the camera itself. But in general, all that I am listing now are quibbles, because, in fact, all this does not have a direct meaning to the quality of photos. If you figure it out properly, learn how to use Canon Powershot SX50HS, and not stupidly press on auto-shooting, then, I assure you, everyone will be delighted. Therefore, if you do not know what to choose, take this thing boldly. She is definitely worth her money. It is not for nothing that the absolute majority of reviews about this camera on the Internet are extremely positive and satisfied.

After reading the preliminary reviews, I really wanted to buy this swell for myself, but when I already bought it, I was very upset. Firstly, it is always necessary to check the quality even when buying, which I just forgot to do, I was in such a hurry, secondly, there are a lot of squeaks, there is little sense, the only thing that pleased me was the long-range zoom, And that's it. The rest is just bullshit, compared to other cameras. The pictures turn out to be some kind of soapy. often misses in color rendering. Autofocus is really nonsense, especially when shooting videos. A large-format photo mode is useless, it turns out very narrowly. In general, it is suitable only for those who do not have any experience with cameras, or for those who only need a photo for a tick. I tried to return it to the store, but there they showed me two more of the same and both had the same shooting quality - stretched, too crushed, in general, nonsense on not a camera, but it was almost a DSLR, you have to try very hard to shoot evening shots, or just click a lot, and then choose. "On the go" photos generally do not work, the curve autofocus is to blame.

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS has 5 years of operational experience.

For a long time I chose a camera to suit my needs. I was guided by a low cost, a large zoom, the ability to shoot in RAW format, light weight and a durable case. Having studied the market as of mid-2013, I chose the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS. The main task of the camera is to be my traveling and hiking companions of varying degrees of difficulty. The following requirements were imposed on the camera: it was equally good to photograph wild animals at a considerable distance, small insects and flowers when macro photography, and of course the moon in the night sky.I will not dwell on the description of the technical characteristics and features of the camera, this has already been described in detail in other reviews and on the manufacturer's website.

So, for five years of operation, my Canon PowerShot SX50 HS went with me to the mountains, passed canyons of rivers, shot waterfalls and mountain lakes in different operating conditions.

What pleased me:

- the regular battery holds a charge perfectly (the camera was used regularly);

- the lens drive is fast and quiet enough (the sound has become slightly louder in five years);

- the stabilization system works fine, it turns out to take the moon "off your hands";

- the rotary screen works perfectly and will help out under non-standard shooting conditions;

- the shutter works quickly and clearly;

- when the subject is enlarged, a very pleasant "blurring" of the background appears, which can be seen with more expensive lenses.

Any questions:

- - autofocus does not always work correctly when approaching extreme values (especially when shooting macro and at high magnification);

- the stated zoom is only available in the "auto" shooting mode;

- to wind up the filters, you must additionally purchase an adapter;

- due to the weak photosensitivity and the small size of the matrix, it is sometimes difficult to remove "noise" (at 100% magnification of the image) from photos taken in non-standard shooting conditions.

If you are a beginner photographer, you like long hiking trips over rough terrain (where every 100 grams matter), you like hunting animals and birds, you would like to look at architectural objects from a long distance in your travels, take amateur pictures for a family album and all this for reasonable money. Definitely choose this camera.

The appearance of this camera is quite massive and, although Canon positions it as a compact camera, it looks more like a DSLR in the shape of the body. At the time of its release, it was the first and only camera with a fifty-fold zoom! Despite its size and weight, the camera is very comfortable in the hand, in general, ergonomics is simply at an exorbitant level, everything is thought out. The side protrusion is small but comfortable, the hollow with pimples at the place of the thumb stop and the rough, matte plastic of the case provide a good grip and convenient use of the camera. The plastic of the case is very durable, we were convinced of this the next day after the purchase, my wife dropped it from a height of a little more than a meter on the asphalt, the device was just in a plastic bag. My heart almost jumped out through my throat, picked it up, turned it on, everything works, takes off, zoom, stabilization, a detailed inspection of the case did not reveal any damage or even marks, so I do not know exactly where it was attached, everything works!

All the keys of the camera are quite large, it is comfortable to operate the camera, you do not have to suffer trying to press some kind of piggy with your fingernail, you can even wear gloves - the buttons are far apart from each other and have a clear click when pressed. In the upper right part of the case there is an on/off button of the device, a shooting mode selection wheel, a zoom control and a shutter release key. Directly above the lens there is a built-in flash, which, if necessary, extends from the case, there is also a special mount for installing an external flash. And to the left of it is the flash mode control button. On the left side of the body of the SX50 HS there is a speaker, and on the right under the rubber plug there are HDMI and USB connectors, as well as a connector for the trigger remote. The battery is located in the lower compartment of the case, there is also a socket in which the memory card is installed.

The camera has both a viewfinder and a screen, the second one is made rotatable, which in my opinion is very convenient, allows you to shoot from uncomfortable angles without twisting your neck. Or you can turn the screen face inwards and look through the electronic viewfinder.

Menu. If you had any Canon digital camera before, then the menu of this camera will be familiar to you, everything is the same, if you have this first Canon, then you will figure it out in five minutes, everything is outrageously clear and intuitive! In general, you can paint all these buttons, menus, shooting modes for the SX50 HS for a very long time, I think there is plenty of all this information on the Internet, the essence of the review is still not in this…

Three years after the purchase, I remain very satisfied with the camera. The pictures are of excellent quality, the counter has already been filled up for 3000 pieces, maybe someone would have "shot" more, but as many as there are, there are so many videos in Full HD, photos can be saved both in JPEG format and in RAW, the latter then allows you to process pictures in various graphic editors. If you are too lazy to conjure with the settings of the shooting modes, you can just "beat" in the machine. Yes, it's just a telescope, you can see a mosquito on the moon in it, at the same time, very healthy stabilization. I have already mentioned about its shockproof properties. A very, very good camera, for a simple amateur.
