Samsung NX300 manual and review

A wonderful camera for geeks and comfort lovers. Greetings friends, today I want to share my impressions about my camera Samsung NX300. It so happened that I bought it about a year ago, but I could check it only now. I managed to go on a trip to Egypt.

This camera will definitely be to the taste of geeks, IT guys and everyone who likes new technologies.One of the main advantages of this device is a touch screen retractable, thanks to which it is enough to press on the object with your finger, so that the camera automatically focuses on it and took a picture.In addition, to the pluses can be attributed a good basic lens 18-55, finger control and the presence of Wi-Fi (although it is not yet implemented perfectly).The quality of photos is excellent, everything works, I used it in the city and in the city. I did not notice any minuses, but I am not an expert in photography, I bought the camera for myself.

This camera is a real multifunctional combine! A lot of modes for photos, a bright touch screen of high quality, the ability to transfer files from the camera to a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi, which is distributed by the camera itself, a large selection of lenses on the market (however, in our country they are too expensive, it is easier to order them abroad on eBay) and a lot of cases and cases. The camera is made of quality plastic, the top and control buttons are made of aluminum, and the front part is covered with leather. The buttons rotate easily, but not so much that you can accidentally change the settings while shooting. Settings can be controlled using both the buttons on the body and the touchscreen, which, by the way, responds well to touch. Thanks to the hybrid autofocus, focusing is instantaneous. Continuous shooting of 6 frames per second allows you to take pictures even of fast-moving objects without blurring. The only disadvantage is the lack of a viewfinder, although this disadvantage is partially compensated for by the rotating quality screen and the possibility of using a smartphone or tablet as a viewfinder, but sometimes it is still not enough. Also the impossibility of remote flash control can be considered a disadvantage. Otherwise, the camera is excellent, fast and high-quality, but it is intended more for amateurs.

Compact and high quality.This camera belongs to the system class and has a sensor similar to DSLR cameras, but without the mirror system. As a result, it has a compact size and excellent quality comparable to DSLRs. From them it also inherited the concept of interchangeable lenses. Therefore, additional equipment will be required for different purposes and lenses. However, for most everyday tasks, a standard set of 20-50 mm is enough. This is a great choice for those who want to take high-quality pictures from a technical point of view and at the same time do not carry a bulky and large DSLR camera. It is this model NX300 I take with me on trips, and the DSLR remains for more narrowly focused use. This model features a quality build, large sensor (physical size like amateur and semi-professional DSLRs), user-friendly controls, Wi-Fi and NFC. It has a good AMOLED touchscreen display. Wi-Fi lets you share photos on social networks, send them via email or, more usefully, download files to your computer or smartphone and control the camera remotely using your smartphone. NFC technology makes it easy to connect to your smartphone. Another important feature for experienced amateurs and professionals is the ability to shoot in RAW format. If desired, you can buy an adapter and install, for example, a Canon lens. Of course, it will only work in manual focus mode. The obvious disadvantages include the lack of a viewfinder and a non-standard connector, a hot shoe designed for a flash.

Affordable and convenient mirrorless cameraSamsung NX 300 is a member of the new generation of the NX lineup. It sits between the NX 3000 and NX 30 models. The build quality is high. The appearance has a pronounced retro style. Look solid, especially with manual lenses. Purchased for...Advantages: aesthetic design, bright display, excellent pictures with skillful use of the functions of the device.Disadvantages: removed the multifunction wheel around the joystick, the battery is not the most capacious.

Inexpensive camera for beginners and amateursWhen choosing a camera, I paid attention to the following characteristics: affordable price, ease of use (for a beginner), quality of pictures similar to DSLR cameras, and lightness (to shoot a child).Pros: autofocus, clear menu, recording video in Full HD, stylish retro design, Wi-Fi support, rotating display, light weight.Cons: viewing the gallery starts from the last picture.

This camera is great value for money. It is very easy to use thanks to its good sensor and the ability to transfer photos directly to the internet via Wi-Fi. In addition, you can process your photos with various filters on the device itself. The quality of the pictures is excellent.Among the advantages of this camera, you can highlight the excellent quality of photos, usability and ease of use.However, there are some disadvantages. For example, the camera does not always take clear out-of-focus pictures, and it takes longer to focus on the subject when it is dark.

Advantages: compact size, good shooting quality, intuitive menu and easy navigation. For me it was important to have Wi-Fi, as it allows you to conveniently work with files from a computer without a wired connection. I also liked the convenient remote control from my phone, where the smartphone acts as a remote control. Overall, I got about 70-80% of what I wanted, as I wanted to try something different after years of using DSLRs from a well-known Japanese manufacturer, and this camera meets my requirements in terms of compactness and Wi-Fi availability. I am now happy with the size of the camera and continue to use it. I would still like more optics or a cheaper original one. Also pleased with the successful purchase of a set of native bag, battery and charger for only 1100 rubles, although in the summer they were sold for 600 rubles.

Disadvantages: the body materials are plastic, not metal, as it seems at first glance. Lack of original accessories, such as cases and films. Lack of non-original optics, cases and films for the screen, which have to be ordered from abroad. Flash units from other manufacturers are also absent, but managed to find a few models on eBay, but they are Chinese and without warranty. Perhaps the lack of a video viewfinder and external microphone jack is also a disadvantage.

I would like to note that overall I am very happy with this camera. The wi-fi works adequately, although it is not completely full-featured in terms of software. For example, there is no logical option, as on Android phones, to automatically upload all photos when you get within Wi-Fi range to Dropbox, which would be very convenient. You just come home, turn on the camera, and it uploads all the photos to Dropbox. Or if you shoot in a Wi-Fi range that's connected to Dropbox, the photos are automatically uploaded there. But there's SkyDrive, which unfortunately doesn't work no matter how hard I tried.Still, this is more of a regular mirrorless camera, albeit a very good one with advanced communication capabilities, rather than a full-fledged smart camera in the full sense of the word, like the Galaxy NX, for example. I would immediately choose the Galaxy NX, given its price (65,000 rubles) and size, which is still closer to a DSLR. But, with all due respect, the main thing is the price. This is an amateur camera, the addition of Android to which in no way can raise it to the level of very advanced semi-professional or even entry-level professional cameras.After several months of use, it turned out that for the first time it was possible to shoot normally on New Year's Eve. I took 380 frames in maximum resolution (3.2 GB), 90% of them with flash, about 30 frames with remote control via Wi-Fi, and also shot three videos of 100 megabytes. I watched some of the footage and then downloaded all the footage via Wi-Fi to my computer (the transfer took about 15 minutes), without even draining the battery by one division (firmware version 1.33).

Greetings professionals and photography enthusiasts! I would like to share my review of the amazing NX300 system camera, which continues to please me. Initially we planned to buy a professional DSLR camera, but after testing various models it became clear that for the amount of money we were counting on, there was no suitable option. However, we needed a camera. That's when we noticed the Samsung NX300 camera, which turned out to be interesting both in terms of design and shooting quality.NX300 is a mirrorless camera, which is not inferior, and in some aspects even superior to DSLRs. So, Samsung NX300 is a smart camera that works wonders!

Specifications.The camera has a modern design with retro elements. I really like its appearance, it is pleasant to hold in my hands. The body of the camera is made of durable metal and has a relief surface imitating leather. Despite the metal body, the camera is light and compact, it is convenient to carry. I would also like to mention the swivel display. The Amoled display is 3.31 inches and can tilt 90° up and 45° down. This is very convenient, for example, when shooting in a crowd. If you rotate the display and raise it above people's heads, you can easily see what's going on behind them.

Here are the main features of the Samsung NX300:

20.3 Mpix CMOS sensor provides bright and sharp images that capture the beauty of nature;

Hybrid autofocus system ensures fast and accurate focusing, with phase detection autofocus instantly determining the distance to the subject and contrast detection providing fine focus for the best image quality;

1/6000s shutter speed and continuous shooting at 8.6 fps lets you shoot almost instantly, without the risk of missing a good shot;

operating modes include Auto, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual, Lens Priority, Smart and Wi-Fi;

Hybrid user interface with touch screen for ease of use, and 5-way key and touch screen allows you to quickly customize menu options for special effects, image sharing, text input, etc...;

Full HD, H.264, AAC video with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution for excellent video quality.

Smart - Great portraits, landscapes, macro, stop-motion, saturated tones, panoramas, waterfalls, silhouettes, sunsets, nights, fireworks, trails of lights, creative shots, best moments. This function is very convenient and indispensable. The panorama shooting function allows you to create impressive panoramas with meticulous detail.

External flash (SEF8A included). It's not the most powerful, but it's quite good.

Light sensitivity: Auto, ISO 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, 12800, 25600. The upper limit of Auto ISO can be selected independently (up to ISO 16000). High light sensitivity allows you to get high-quality photos even in low-light conditions.File formats: RAW (SRW ver2.0.Innocent), JPEG (EXIF 2.21), MPO (for 3D), DCF, DPOF 1.1. I prefer to shoot in RAW and process photos myself.

The dual-band Wi-Fi connection allows me to instantly share photos and videos with friends and family. While this feature isn't bad, I rarely use it.

Support for 3D optics is not a priority for me.

At the beginning of using the camera, I was a little disappointed. This was due to the fact that I was not able to understand the settings right away, it was difficult for me to navigate through them. However, after learning all the functions and setting them up properly, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the photos. Overall, I compared pictures taken with the Canon 450D DSLR and the Samsung NX300 and I have to say that in most cases, the Samsung NX300 wins. However, a lot depends on your skill and creativity.

A few more words about Full HD shooting. The video quality is excellent, the colors are reproduced perfectly, but there is a small nuance - a small button for shooting video.Together with the camera comes a 20-50 mm lens, charger, microUSB cable, flash SEF8A and a lens hood to protect the lens from unwanted light rays. If you want to develop as a photographer, you can purchase additional lenses, including a 2D/3D lens.For convenience, I purchased a bag specifically for the Samsung NX300.

The downside is that some users may find the interface difficult to get used to or uncomfortable, as not everyone prefers to select settings by tapping on the screen. It is also worth considering the possibility of rapid discharge of the battery, if you take a lot of photos and videos - the charge may not be enough for the whole day, although, again, it depends on the intensity of shooting. In my case, the charge is enough for 3 days, provided that I take 80-100 shots a day.Nevertheless, Samsung NX300 fully satisfies me on all parameters.
