Слюна у пиявки особая она содержит гирудин, препятствующий свертыванию крови. Почек у пиявок нет, но зато есть два половых отверстия, расположенные ближе к голове на брюшной стороне.
Медицинские пиявки используются для нормализации давления крови, при травмах (сотрясениях, переломах, ушибах), стенокардия, запоры, радикулит, заболевания почек, гинекологические заболевания, диатез, нарушений менструального цикла, экземы, геморрой, мигрень, псориаз, прстатит, бронхиальная астма, колит, бесплодие, парадонтид, отиты, эндометриозе, невриты, тромбофлебит и другие недуги, угревая сыпь, связанные с кровеносной системой организма. По сути пиявка высасывает плохую кровь, говорят к здоровому человеку она даже не присасывается даже будучи голодной.
