Nikon D5000 SLR camera - operation review

Nikon D5000 SLR camera - operation review

I recently changed my first Nikon D5000 to a more advanced SLR camera. And honestly, it was a pity to part with him, but "se la vie". It should be noted that the D5000 immediately went to Avito, and there is an explanation for this - for its segment it is quite a good camera with certain advantages, which I will tell you about.

I bought a Nikon D5000 back in 2012, and faithfully, never breaking down and not messing up, it served me until 2019. This camera is an amateur, and it was used for personal needs - to preserve memories of travel, family holidays, photographing flowers and seals.

I bought the Nikon D5000 complete with an 18-105 whale lens, which worked perfectly paired with this camera.

I'll start with the disadvantages of the camera, why I decided to change the camera.

The first is the small resolution of the matrix - only 12 MP, while many slightly later relatives of the 5000-series already had a matrix of 16 and even 20 MP. Accordingly, with such a matrix, it is impossible to get good image detail. But again, this is not a professional camera. And for household needs, the quality is quite acceptable.

The second significant drawback is the low working ISO. Simply put, with insufficient lighting in the pictures, a lot of noise (graininess) turned out. But in conditions of good illumination, the quality is not bad.

That's all the significant drawbacks. Well, now about the advantages:

1. Rotary screen.

With it the following amenities:

when closed, it keeps the display from damage,
it can be removed from the floor by looking at the screen (via Live View mode). It is convenient to shoot yourself by turning the screen on yourself. There is no such thing in my new purchase, but it's a pity.

2. Information screen and convenience of parameter correction. You do not need to go to the menu to correct some parameter, you can use the cursor to stand on the desired indicator and change the parameter. Also here you can adjust the power of the built-in flash.

3. Compact and simple. Probably, the main mass in the camera was the lens, but the camera itself is light and compact. In management, the Nikon D5000 camera turned out to be simple, it's easy to understand it (the main thing is the desire).

I have been shooting on automatic mode for a long time. Sometimes I played with ready-made settings. And all this, respectively, in jpeg. So the machine turned out pretty good pictures with natural colors and sane colorfulness. It was already in 2018 that I started shooting in the rav, I was no longer satisfied with the resolution and noise at high ISO. Until I learned to match, I was satisfied with everything in this camera.

So I want to say - as an amateur camera, the Nikon D5000 did not disappoint me at all. Moreover, I lack some points in the new camera (for example, the rotary screen). Nikon D5000 passed with me and sand, and condensate, and splashes of water. No dust was formed on the matrix.

A lot has already been written about this camera model. There are more than enough professional reviews on it and descriptions of its characteristics on the Internet. Therefore, I will probably limit myself to a nostalgic review.

This is a great model for a beginner and even a more or less advanced photographer. Clear, excellent quality images. Different shooting modes. Rotary screen and all other stuff.

However, one of the most important features of this device, in my opinion, is that it gives the pictures a kind of aura of softness and artistry. The clarity is not lost even once. But even if you shoot an absolutely everyday scene (kitchen, cooking kebabs in nature, animals) - the result may surprise you very much. It's nice to surprise you. To confirm my words, I cite links to squirrels, landscapes and other photos. Everything was done with this camera. Of course, in order to achieve such pictures, you need to photograph a lot and in different ways. And for these purposes, the D5000 is also quite suitable.

And especially landscapes, yes. If you manage to capture the sky with clouds, you will get not just a picture, but some kind of picture directly.

The menu is not very difficult to master, but it has enough settings, demanding pros will find a lot of opportunities here. ISO, white balance, bracketing, different exposure camera modes - all this is familiar to knowledgeable photographers. But for an amateur, this camera is a great chance to learn how to shoot "with wiring", take pictures in different modes, change lenses and try yourself in different shooting genres. Yes, this is not a new model. But this is a very, very decent device, the potential of which is very high even now.

In 20XX, many slowly began to move to the 4/3 system devices. And I followed their example. After all, 4K video, lightness and a lot of features in the new models. Etc., etc.

But this DSLR not only gained confidence in the Nikon brand, but also forever gave me a lot of pleasant memories and warm moments captured in photos (and videos).

Perhaps the only drawbacks that I can name are some bulkiness and heaviness of the camera. However, this is a mirror. "What I see, I shoot." Having purchased this model, it is better to look for a bag right away, otherwise it is a little tedious to be worn with such a "carcass" in your hands.

And short video shooting - 5 minutes in 720p. Yes, an elderly model, yes, she is not designed for this... and yet, and yet.

And ISO by modern standards is "too narrow" - up to 3200 (more than enough for a whole string of pictures, but look at the ISO values in the "system books").

But these are minor quibbles in relation to the general spirit of photographs, to the whole concept and worldview that the Nikon D5000 camera creates.

P.S. And also, after its acquisition, everyone will look at you as a pro. Well, of course, a "mirror" in the eyes of ordinary people = "oh, cool, this is a camera."

I have been using the camera of this model for more than 7 years. This camera is my third pair of eyes! My memory, emotions, events, moments - almost everything went through him. With the help of him, my love for photography, creative photo shoots, capturing beautiful moments, memory continued.

For more than seven years he served me faithfully, he steadfastly withstood all the falls, shaking, temperature changes, worked at -30C, and at +30C, in the rain, in the snow, in the heat!

This is my second SLR camera, before that there was a nikon d70, but it failed almost immediately after purchase and had to be replaced with a d5000 under warranty.

At the time of purchase, my interest in photography was just emerging, I was training to shoot on "soap dishes", they were exactly what they were then. Now I see the difference in the pictures and my successes over these long relationships with my beloved Nikon.

The battery lasts much more than for 510 shots. 3000-4000 with my frequent shooting, it stands calmly. Can be kept on for weeks! If you do not touch it, but leave it on, it fully retains its charge. The battery is alive.

The Nikon 5000 shutter life is 100,000 frames. Mine has already worked out 170,000!! One hundred and seventy thousand pictures! And still half alive with grief.

The quality of the images began to deteriorate after 120,000. After 150,000, the camera started working every other time. After 170,000, he began to fill up the horizon, lie with color rendering (in particular, green) and change focus. Now he needs more time to focus - you miss a lot of interesting shots, it's a shame.

But he did his job, especially considering my extreme way of photographing. (Mostly I shot in the aperture mode, at the maximum open, besides with a photosensitive lens, and besides in the multi-frame shooting mode. However, I have always treated changing lenses with special trepidation - I have always acted strictly according to the rules, so everything about lenses, dust, fingerprints is perfect).

The video quality is decent, but over time it began to slow down wildly, the sound became terrible.

And this is for 7 years of constant frenzied use and without a single inspection, adjustment, repair, professional cleaning and other professional maintenance.

I got lenses 18-55, 35 and 300, I dream of a wide angle and buying a new camera with a higher class (although now it's more important to me that it just works as it should).

Of the advantages of this camera, I want to note the rotary screen - it is much safer to transport it in closed form, the matrix cleaning function, non-killability and excellent quality of work.

Today I will tell you about my assistant for making reviews on Irek. He's the one who helps me take photos.

However, not only for Irek, but also in ordinary life I'm nowhere without him.

This is a Nikon D5000 camera.

It all started with the fact that my old Canon soap dish is morally and not only outdated. The quality of the photo stopped pleasing me, so I decided to buy myself something to replace it.

My choice fell on this model. Firstly, I'm not a professional photographer, and I don't need a camera with bells and whistles that I can't figure out. Secondly, I was limited in money.

This camera has good characteristics and the cost is adequate. This is an entry-level camera.

Only now there are many new models, and the d5000 has already been discontinued. But still, you can still find a camera in some places.

And here's how it differs from its predecessors:

Innovative LCD monitor with variable tilt angle
Live View and D-Movie
Extraordinary image quality – 12.3 megapixel resolution and wide sensitivity range
Built-in advanced processing menu
19 story modes

In general, you can find out all its full characteristics on the Nikon website or on Yandex. Market, so I will not give them here.

The lens was included. I have AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm VR. Of course, it will do for beginners. Now, having got used to it a little, I'm going to change it.

Of the advantages, I can single out its relatively light weight. Naturally, this is not a soap dish that can be put in a purse, but a full-fledged mirror, so the neck will still hurt after wearing it all day. But in relation to other DSLRs, the D5000 weighs lighter.

I've been saving up for my DSLR for a long time. I bought it while I was still studying at university, so I had to work hard for several months before the Nicon D5000 DSLR turned out to be in my hands. I spent several photo sessions on the DSLR both in the studio and outdoors, all the photos turn out very bright and juicy, which can not but please the eye.

After viewing these photos, friends of Kommersant even offered me to become a photographer at their wedding. But since the experience was small, I did not take on such responsibility.

However, she agreed to the showroom's offer and made a photo shoot for a clothing store, the customer liked the photos very much.

This model is suitable for a beginner photographer, an amateur photographer.

Complete with a SLR camera, I purchased a case, it is very convenient to travel with it and an ultraviolet lens that protects the lens from the sun and dust (I purchased the filter specifically before traveling to Egypt and photo shoots in the desert).

A very good SLR camera, I'm happy!

It was given to me by my parents when they realized that for a reason I have been suffering with a pseudo-Fuji mirror for 5 years) There was no limit to my joy, well, of course - immediately another level, another quality of images. I chose the gift myself, tried to take something budget-friendly so that it wouldn't hit my parents' wallet, read the reviews, looked at the photos taken with this camera and decided that it would fit. I missed one detail - and then it turned out that it was crucial for me. The thing is that there is no "screwdriver" in this wonderful camera. This means that only certain lenses are suitable for her. I didn't think about it right away, they say the camera and the camera. And when I realized that my whale lens can only shoot portraits and landscapes, well, flower butterflies (which I'm not fond of)it became clear that another lens was urgently needed. That's when I realized where I was wrong. No screwdriver - no autofocus. And the choice is either to be guided manually, which is difficult in the report, or to buy an AF-S series lens, which costs an order of magnitude more than a regular AF, or to sell your almost new D5000 and buy (at least used) D90 for example. Bottom line: the camera is good in quality, although I don't use LV mode - autofocus is sooo slow in it, otherwise - if you carefully read the instructions, you can take really good photos. It makes little noise, transmits colors well, but it's all the little things - it's elementary edited. When I bought an external flash, it became even better. But! If you want to make money with photography, you will definitely need other optics. Then it is much more convenient to immediately buy another model, with a screwdriver. It is easier and cheaper to choose a lens for it. The D5000 is a good thing, take it if you are a beginner photographer or if you only need the camera for household use. Well, as a last resort, try to take an 18-105 lens with it. And now I'm thinking more and more about another model.

A great camera for a novice photographer or traveler, it will help you save the moments dear to your heart + photos on Nikon D5000.

What can save the moments dear to your heart better than a photo? Photos are available to almost everyone today, the market offers us a lot of available models. However, this camera has every right to claim the title, if not professional, then certainly a decent camera for a novice photographer.

Nikon D5000 is my first SLR camera, which I still use, despite the fact that a more expensive camera has appeared, this camera is still dear to my heart, it has traveled more than one thousand kilometers with me.

And, if you are a beginner photographer or are looking for a camera on which you can learn photography, then this information will not give you anything.

For ease of understanding, I can tell you that there are full-frame cameras, and there are half-frame cameras. Full-frame ones are more expensive and their photo quality is better if on the fingers.

To work as a photographer or shoot weddings, you need to look for a more expensive model, since you will be very far behind in resources from your colleagues. And, of course, in the hands of a talented person, this camera will create wonderful pictures, but nevertheless, this camera is for a beginner or an amateur.

From pleasant buns - shoots a video. It seems impossible to attach a microphone, although I didn't really try, so the sound will have to be written to a separate device, and then superimposed.

It will be quite difficult to shoot in the dark if you don't take care of buying a more photosensitive lens. Otherwise, the camera is reliable, overcomes critical mileage without problems, survives after shooting in frost, rain and snow. My camera survived when I was shooting chest-deep in the sea, when I was shooting in the salt desert, when I was taking pictures in a thirty-degree frost.
A decent camera that will always be in my memory, although it lags behind modern models of professional cameras.

However, all this goes by the wayside when you buy a camera and start learning photography. This is a very interesting world that will allow you to improve and grow over yourself every day, as well as capture the moments dear to your heart.
