Why do you need a DSLR? If a point-and-shoot is just as good!

I have been using Canon products for a long time, since 2008, I had and still have a Canon IXUS 75, which since then has taken a lot of videos and photos, and never once failed during this time. But time and progress is not standing still, and for 6 years it has become functionally outdated, no longer meets modern requirements. So the question has arisen what to buy: There were several options: Nikon / Sony / Canon - but the choice has fallen on Canon PowerShot S110 and in this review, I will try to tell you why he (all its pros and cons.

The competitors were:

Nikon Coolpix P330

Canon PowerShot S120

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100

And now in order: Nikon immediately fell away, though presented with an improved sensor, but according to the forum it is more on paper than in photos. There were 3 candidates for purchase, the best among them is of course Sonyka RX100, but the price tag of it in Russia is not humane (although the device is really the "bomb" - but it's the heaviest soapbox from the candidates). S120 compared to S110 has improved image stabilizer and more frames per video recording mode, but at once for 7tys. more expensive. Decided to take the 120, because another + Canon - is that the menu I'm already used to, and do not have to retrain. And people on the forum claimed that my camera's snapshots are comparable in quality to a DSLR.

But then, by coincidence, in one of the stores in our city was a one-day offer, just for PowerShot S110, it cost only 7999 money. I realized - it's a sign. And could not stop myself from buying.

And now the pros and cons of this soapbox:

+ Functional ring, you can "hang" on it some functions (zoom, change the iso, etc.)

+ Touch screen (the ability to focus a specific object with a finger)

+ Excellent 3 "screen (461000 pixels - such a picture on the last Canon was not)

+ Great video quality, with the ability to auto zoom

+The same intuitive menu as before.

+In addition to the automatic mode, there are many manual settings (almost like a DSLR).

Metal body + (although to drop, I think all the same should not

+ There is Wi-Fi, but the photos to transfer to the computer through the "air" has not yet tried

+ And the biggest plus - the quality of photos has increased (compared to its predecessor - the unit is less demanding to the light, goes into operating mode faster)

- The flash is right where your finger is usually located, and constantly pushes it

- The battery could be put a higher capacity, the video quickly runs down

- When shooting video (especially 1080P) heats up the part with the battery

- The manual in a text format was not available, only on disk in PDF format (although the trees should be protected).

- Unfortunately the touch screen does not work while recording video, it would be convenient to change the object of focus

- The power button is a little small, could be made larger, or somehow to highlight it on the body

That's the impression of my new camera Canon PowerShot S110, I hope my review was useful. Good luck with the pictures.
